I am new to Linux but I just started two computers with the Yoper Linux OS on them. I do not run monitors on them all the time so what I need is someone tell me how to start Boinc automatically when I boot into Linux. I have set it up to auto login with a user name (not root). This way I can boot up without a monitor every time and have it running the client. Something simple :) |

See an answer to my post "BOINC upgrade", it may help you. |

Hi, KingPin, Pages of hits from giving the site's search engine "startup script". Perhaps one will fit your situation. HTH. P.S. -- Please keep us informed of your Yoper Linux experience from time to time. (If I decide to stop running XP on my last M$ machine, I may over-write SuSE with Yoper in the Linux partition.) Thanks. |

I am by definition a definate Linux NOOB, but I currently have 2 machines running YOPER 2.1.0-4 and have found it to be by far my best experience with Linux ever. Installation went flawlessly and both of the machines now running YOPER had previously been doing CP with W2K Pro and they are now processing approx. 0.5 seconds per timeslice faster then they were with W2K. 0.5 seconds per TS figures out to about 1.8 hours saved per "tickle", so it's a good thing in my book. I have plans to change 2 more machines over to YOPER as soon as they complete their current model run. This is just my experience, hope it helps. SkyHook |

That's a pretty amazing improvement from an OS change. Thanks. George |
