How to I figure out why I'm not getting any work units? I have repeatedly clicked update in the BOINC Manager and the communication is always deferred for an hour or more. This has gone on for a week now.

First -- Don't keep clicking 'update'. All that gets you is a refreshed backoff period, as you noticed.

Second -- no one is getting new work at the this time (except stray reissues of failed tasks). There is a chance there will be at least one new batch after Wednesday's maintenance.

Other BOINC projects are working okay.

Hi Roger, that is because there isn't any work available right now. If you go to the main page from link at the bottom of this page then click on the server status link on the right hand side you will see in the table of tasks by application there are no unsent units. Ignore the 27 unsent tasks at the top of the page. This is a foible of the BOINC server code that seems to affect a number of projects.

When deferred for an hour, don't click on the update button in boinc as it will just restart the hour rather than trying to get more work.

We bring it up to staff from time to time. 'Graphics' is not a dead subject but we must wait for priority to float to the top. Unknown future.

And clearly not a massive release of tasks as they have been gobbled up by all the computers waiting long before I knew there were any there!
