I'm running Boinc on laptops and I usually keep the computer from wearing out it's fans (this one is on it's 3rd set) by setting the compute presences to be less than some percent of the cpu. As the seasons change, I have to tune that number. Recently, that hasn't worked very well. (It's summer.) Frequently it's because of Chrome heating up the laptop and the kids leave it running. All of this would could be more directly managed if I could set the preferences to suspend the tasks when the fans speed up. I realize laptops have different fan speeds but maybe there is a min and max ratio and I could set iboinc to suspend when the fan runs at 10% of max. Or maybe there is an even better way. For me, I don't want Boinc making my laptop sound like an airplane plus that just costs me money in fans after some time. |

You can do that with the help of Tthrottle program. Actually that uses CPU temperature as a trigger. https://efmer.com/tthrottle/ |

What about those of us who do not use Windows? The OP has Darwin on both machines. I have been on Linux for the whole of this Century so far. |

Sorry, I don't have a solution for those environments. So the wish is necessary. |
