After upgrading to BOINC 4.09, each time I try to start the BOINC GUI I get a popup that says \"Failed to cleanup the Windows Sockets Interface\" and the GUI doesn\'t start. I am running BOINC as a service, and I can see (in the task manager) that hadsm3um_4.03 is running, but I would like to use the GUI to track progress.

This is Windows XP Pro with SP1 (but not SP2).

Hi, you have to run "one or the other", i.e. the service or the GUI, both will conflict and potentially crash the model?

The crash part should be fixed in CCv4.09. You still have to choose one or the other though.

I had this problem as well on my laptop, and it cleared up after I started running Starfield as screensaver and leaving BOINC as CLI only :-)
