Sorry for the strange title. I'm running VMWare Fusion on my iMac and it's set up to use both cores and this has never been changed. It's been running two tasks with no problems for some time. During the recent problem with uploads, one my tasks hadn't completed (Backing off problem) and I had a new task waiting to start. The problem has been resolved and all the waiting files (zips) were uploaded successfully with the related task showing successful completion. The strange thing is that the waiting task on my system hasn't started and is still showing 'Ready to start'. Machine name - WIN-I21CUCJIA1O Task - 20937820 I tried an 'update' - still didn't start. Tried 'Suspend' & 'Resume' - still the same. Nothing wrong or changed in my settings as far as I can see. Has anyone come across anything like this before? Any ideas welcome. David |

Probably clutching at straws here but have you checked in task manager to ensure there is not another instance of BOINC running - either in VM or natively under Darwin. - I know from experience that you can't have BOINC running under wine and Linux at the same time. |

Thanks Dave, but with VMWare Fusion on an iMac, one can run two instances of BOINC at the same time. Fusion creates a unique environment for Windows, which is entirely separate from the OSX user environment. I don’t do it, as it simply results in doubling the run times for the respective tasks, so there's no real benefit. |

Out of ideas then. - I have no mac experience though, I am not 100% convinced the answer will be mac specific |

If it is this computer with ID: 1451346 There are 2 tasks on it, one is uploading trickles the other isn't. It is listed as having only 1 processor: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7600 @ 3.06GHz [Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10] (1 processors) The number of processors for a client can be specified in the cc_config.xml file using the <ncpus> tag. If you don't know where that file is I can expand further, but you could just check the event log after clicking on the Read config files to see what the log says you have running first. |

Hi PDW, Thanks for the that. Grr, completely missed it. Don't know how it happened - it's a new VM & I could have sworn it was running with both cores. Oh well, I'll reset Fusion after task completion. Thanks again. PS - Dave - Yes, not exactly a MAC problem although I don't know if Fusion behaves identically on all platforms. |
