I'm not sure if this is a platform issue, but I have not been able to retrieve any tasks for quite some time. I mean, probably two years or so. I've removed and added the Climate Prediction project into BOINC several times, but no luck. Any ideas?

There's been no tasks for Macs for about that time. And with Apple going to 64 bit programs only, my guess is that there never will be now.

Also, the project has been down for the last two months. See the recent post in the News thread, right at the top of this board.

So that's why. Been wondering too.

There was a recent batch of HADCM3 tasks for Linux and Mac but they went pretty quickly. (Batches 748 and 749)The 748's were one year simulations and the 749's 10 years. But as mentioned below, long term the Mac might well be at the end with CPDN (unless someone finds a way of circumventing the 64bit only thing.) I have no idea about the likelihood of this having never done more than type something up on a mac.

Why is it such a huge problem to make tasks 64-bit as others BOINC projects are ?

Because the computers and compilers with which they're provided, "throw a wobbly" when they try it.

And they're not even trying to create new programs for Apple computers at present.

And, I can't remember which off hand but there are other projects that have not made the leap to 64 bit tasks, presumably for similar reasons to CPDN.

Hi,
I wonder if this is the case for Quake Catcher, Rosetta@home?? I know SETI is coming to end of life. I look at my BAM stats and all my projects Climate Prediction, Quake Catcher, Rosetta & Seti all show "No previous contact", so I'm not sure what to make other than I'm spending alot of time trying to figure out if tasks are being uploaded back to the mother ship after crunching on my machines. The "tasks" tab in BOINC manager looks like things are crunching along but if i look at individual project sites its indicating 0 as far as any credits go. Thanks for any input!

Only one type of model that can run on a Mac has had any batches released in the last 9 months, that that was last Fall. These are the models/applications and what platforms they can run on

https://www.cpdn.org/apps.php

The hadcm3 short model had some batches last Fall, but nothing since. Batches since then have been for Linux or Windows. I have no idea if/when anything will be released for Macs. There really hasn't been any new work for any of the OS's for 2 months.

There's also the newish GDPR Compliance rules, if you want the external stats sites to display your data.

Up at the top left of this page, just under the globe, click on cpdnboinc
This will take you to a page which contains News, one of which is about the GDPR Compliance.

PS
You can see the results of each project on your Account page at each project.
Go down the list until you find Tasks, then click on View.

This came up on BOINC boards too the other day. Rosetta needs the box ticked under account settings to allow export of data to BAM and other aggregating sites. I suggested it after someone noticed a massive drop in credit on BAM and they came back and confirmed it. I suspect nearly all projects require this now.
