Hi, I wish MetOffice live up to the challenge of climate change and actually rewrite the 5mln lines FORTRAN code of CPDN to something that is....I guess better. I know there are more computers than tasks, but hey climate research is also heading to WCG, and if failures, micromanagement and WINDOWS only tasks are only coming here, well.... happy holidays |

Bernard does have a point though. At least with respect to the 32-bit code. Eventually windows also will abandon 32-bit support. I don't know when exactly of course. I tried a quick Google search but didn't find a concrete answer. I read somewhere on these forums, that Ubuntu Linux already ceased support of certain 32-bit libraries - or was it 32-bit distributions altogether? 5 million lines of code is a daunting task to rewrite, I admit. |

The UK Met Office owns the code, and it's up to them to rewrite it and test it. Which they may well have started doing some time ago. |
