I was looking at the specs of computers running CPDN this morning and noticed there are a lot of Android devices signed up. Is there a way of telling those users when they sign up that they will never get any work for their phones/tablets etc? |

Is there a way of telling those users when they sign up that they will never get any work for their phones/tablets etc? If someone could someone with ADMIN level to that effect then itwould down load to each client and user during next update. And a "sticky" note posting in one or more forums would be approiate. I've been going with Occam's Razor with this. For a LONG time. 1. The list of projects on the BOINC site doesn't show any sign of these OSs. 2. The list of Applications doesn't show them either. 3. Nor does the System requirements page. 4. LOTS of people just don't bother looking at / reading anything on, a project's web site before signing up. 5. They'll find out soon enough when their device tries to access some work. As an example, a few years ago when QCN was still functional, there was a post on the BOINC site complaining that the person couldn't get it to work. When I asked him what sort of motion sensor he had, it turned out that he hadn't bothered to look at the web site, and didn't know that a motion sensor was required for that project. Or that a radiation sensor was needed for Radioactive@Home. He'd just signed up for every project that he could find. |

Ideally, a device that wasn't capable of running tasks for a project wouldn't be able to sign up for it but I know because it has been discussed over on the BOINC boards that there aren't any plans to do that in the near or even not so near future! |

As Les points out, some people apparently don't bother to read the information available. The list of projects shows quite clearly which project supports which platforms and I did find that quite a few support Android on this URL. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php |

I signed up to Seti@home with a PS3 just to synchronize the cross-project ID. |
