Hi, all the failed tasks I looked at (admittedly, only five or six) were from batch 781 which was withdrawn because of problems that mean all work units from it will fail. I am afraid, you are the victim of bad timing and having downloaded a lot of these tasks across your computers. |

thank you for the answer. i can do something to fix it? stop crunching, restart boinc, update project... i can see errors on new cpu with 8+ gb ram but also on oldest cpu with 4 gb ram. let me know because my achievement is helping projects but if i loose time with climate prediction i can change project! |

i can do something to fix it? There are things that will reduce the failure rate in general. In Options>Computing preferences>disk and memory make sure keep non-gpu tasks in memory when suspended is ticked. There are some tasks at the moment (admittedly Linux only ones) that if that is not done and the tasks are suspended are almost bound to crash. There have been tasks like that in the past with Windows as well. Reduce the restrictions on cpu and memory usage as much as possible. (Some tasks are running using over 650MB of ram each, possibly peaking at something even higher. And related to the memory, some tasks do not cope with stopping BOINC and restarting it. On Linux which I use, the failure rate seems higher if a reboot includes a kernel update. It may well be that major updates to the Windows OS might also increase the risk. So avoid rebooting the computer while CPDN tasks are running if at all possible. (This is essential with the current Linux batch and while it seems to me less of a problem with Windows work on the whole, it still improves your chances.) Hopefully it won't be too long before there is some more work for Windows machines. |
