I have been running climateprediction for some months without error and completed several cycles. When the last cycle finished today I was prompted to install BOINC. This laods fine and appears to be running, but climateprediction still loads but gives the error message \"there was an error connecting to the registration server. The server may be down or your proxy settings may need adjusting.\" If I close climateprediction it re-starts some minutes later. Does it need to be running or is everything now handled by BOINC?

It sounds like you've got CPDN classic set up as a service. You can stop it from running by disabling CPDNService (Start - Settings - Control Panel - Adminisrative Tools - Services, right click on CPDNService, select Properties and change the startup type to disabled).
