Just to clarify, I was not asking to remove notifications, just to modify them.
Yes you were, you said "Could we please have the client notifications removed?"

lengthy notifications that one has to sometimes scroll to read on a standard sized Manager.
Never seen one over half a screen. Get a bigger monitor.

There's always a "More" link at the end of notifications that users who want to read additional, non-essential info, can click and they'll be taken directly to the post or article,
Why should I have to do that?

As for how long notifications stick around - it is up to the project, as far as I can tell. I don't think one can just delete contents of the 'notices' folder because they get repopulated every time the client contacts the project.
A decent manager like Boinctasks puts you in control. You also only see the notice once even though it arrives for all your computers. Please don't tell me you still use the basic included manager?

I don't have 4 machines, only 2 with a WSL2 instance on each, so it looks like 4. BOINC Manager can control multiple clients, just not from the same screen. Switching between clients is simple and isn't a big deal with my setup.
If there's only one per screen, that's useless. I have one coloured page with all 8 computers on it, sorted any way I want, with the queued and completed stuff collapsed into one line. The suspended stuff is because sheepit is rendering on up to 4 machines which pauses Boinc. Look at this, you really ought to try it:

I wouldn't be surprised that a majority of users use BOINC Manager as it's the standard manager and it works well enough for most cases.
If you have one computer and just fire and forget, perhaps. But it's useless for controlling anything.

There's a difference between 'notices' and 'notifications'. I got annoyed by the constant reminders from the system tray when notices were first introduced, and quickly found the "never" reminder option. The notices themselves can sit there forever unread, as far as I'm concerned - like the one shown in your screenshot.

The notifications (since I run Windows) are very easy to turn off for any program, whether it has an option to mute them or not. I even muted Windows itself :-) So what if there's another update 3 minutes after I installed the last one, I will not restart until I want to! I've never seen one improve Windows in any way.

I checked to see what the 1 was, and it was a "new posts in subscribed thread" in Cosmology. That's silly, I've set it to send me an email, why would I need to see it in there too?
