I'm pretty sure this page https://www.cpdn.org/top_users.php isn't being updated properly. If it is, how do I get an RAC of 4 million? The users computers are all hidden but some of the other top users by RAC don't seem to have had any of their boxes connect tot he server in months which does make me think the page has not been updated recently. If you can be bothered you could check whether the figures change for the top users over a few days. I do see that my own RAC and Total credit which don't get me into the top 200 by total credit by all that much and a lot lower by RAC are correct. My guess is that whether updated recently or not the top user by RAC at least used to have a lot of computers crunching. Possibly all the ones at their workplace which may run into hundreds. Certainly not possible for a domestic user who has to pay the electric bill! |

The stats for any given computer or user are only updated when a 'credit event' happens - basically, whenever a computer on the account reports a trickle or a completed task. If a computer doesn't contact the server, their last known readings are preserved for ever. You're probably seeing left-over figures from the massive OpenIFS run last Christmas. That's why you can sometimes see active RAC figures on projects which have closed down and stopped sending new work, like SETI@home |

Well, this is the 1st and only active project that acts that way. Like lots of things with this project they don't seem to work as expected. |

An alternative view of the same data is at https://www.boincstats.com/stats/2/user/list/16/0/0 |

External sites like boincstats etc rely on users allowing their data to be exported (this setting is under 'cpdnboinc preferences'). As 'Parsnip Soup' has their computers hidden, it's possible their data isn't being exported. Next time I'm logged onto the system I'll check that page is being updated but I suspect it probably is. --- CPDN Visiting Scientist |

Looking at a few more of the names on the 'top participants' page, the are plenty whose computers aren't hidden. You can usually work out why the figures haven't changed: some only run CPDN on Linux, others have multiple computers registered but they haven't contacted the servers for a long time. My own figures (buried several pages down the list!) seem to be fully up-to-date. |

I'm still planning on implementing badges once I get all the model development issues out of the way, so I will be looking at the database for user credit & RAC (at some point this year). |

One of my posts seems to have disappeared. I wonder why? I could be wrong but I have a feeling this RAC situation was made worse by a credit glitch not to long ago that gave people way more points than what they should have received. The guy at the top of the list, parsnip soup in a clay bowl, has a few computers but nowhere what would be needed to earn an RAC of 4,082,186. To make matters worse he's a team hopper. Sometimes he's on my team, TeAm AnandTech, other times he's on Team Ukraine. |
