I have a multi-socket extension lead which has one master socket which has to have something running in order to power the other sockets. The monitor kept turning off and I assumed a problem with my brand new Ryzen9 box. It took me several days and numerous re-installs of the operating system before I twigged that I needed to plug the monitor into another socket. I will inform the makers so they can warn customers.

Most of that sort of power strip have a "sensitivity dial" or knob somewhere that can be tweaked to adjust how much current it needs to see to believe things are in use.

More recent ones might well do. Mine certainly doesn't though it is the best part of 20 years old.
