I\'ve read through some of the other postings here regarding errors but still haven\'t been able to isolate a problem. I\'ve run the memory test and the pi calculation program (out to 32m) with no problems. Motherboard monitor shows my case/CPU temps hanging out at around 115F/127F respectively. But every workunit runs for 30-40 hours of cpu time and then exits. Looking through the log the typical exit status is -185 and the stderr output is -144. Anybody have any ideas? |

Greetings, Jer, from another USAF type, There have been obvious problems on the team but yours is the first post I've noticed. Good for you! There are more-skilled people here than me and they will want to know more about your machine -- as CPU, memory, OS -- are you overclocked? If so, by what settings? (CPDN is unforgiving of overclocking, though UK_Nick has been successful at sorting it out with multiple AMD machines). Your symptoms sound like similar problems early-on in 'Classic' CPDN with unstable machines -- run for awhile, then go belly up. Hang with us, the hardware gurus may well have a solution. Cheers, Retired USAF Weather-guesser We have met the enemy and he is us -- Pogo |

I'm running a P4 2.4, not overclocked, with 512mb and win xp pro and BOINC 4.09. I split BOINC 50/50 with SETI and have no problems with it. I experienced similar results with the earlier version of BOINC (4.05???) and was hoping the upgrade might make a difference. If there's any other info that would be helpful let me know and I'll be glad to post it! |

Error code -144 and exit status -185 are both related to shared memory errors. Check <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2406&p=20902#20902">this post</a> on the phpBB forum for further details. <br><a href="http://www.teampicard.net"><img src="http://www.teampicard.net/templates/fisubice/images/phpbb2_logo.jpg"></a><a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=3">Join us here</a> |

Latest exit code is -5 after about 65 hours of CPU time. Haven't been able to identify any memory problems via the hardware pages. Still confused.... |

I had a similar problem with a computer I put together. It was taking between 5 and 15 hours to do the calculations then I had client errors and it would grab another work unit. I did some checking on the ASUS motherboard and as it was the first model out it had the first version of the BIOS which didn't support the cpu I had. I updated the BIOS and it has been happily chugging along since then. |
