I\'m having two problems since (trying to) add CP to my BOINC w/SETI. First, the CP project is yet to get a work unit; it says there isn\'t enough disk space allocated. There are two drives on the computer, one with 3G and the other (where BOINC lives) with 26G free. In BOINC it says BOINC has only 93.83MB of free space, and there doesn\'t seem to be any option for setting this or rationale for why it\'s capped itself at such a small figure. Any thoughts?

Secondly, I\'m getting the error message reported elsewhere on this board, about a \"Failure to clean up the Windows Socket Interface\". This seems to occur when other users log in (to XP) while I am still logged in, or if I try to run a second instance of BOINC. Is this just BOINC\'s way of saying that it can\'t run more than one instance? If so, the text ought to be changed :D

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Under general preferences on the web page under your account there are three options to set diskspace. Set them so that BOINC gets at least 600 MB of disk. CPDN needs at least 600 MB free to download a workunit.

As for the problem with windows socket, if I remember correct it's BOINCs way of telling you that it's already runing.

Yeah, the socket error happens when BOINC is already running and you try to start another copy.

The <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php#f">FAQ</a> has information that should help you work out what's going on with disk space.

I've just had a look at the BOINC source code, and the "Failure to cleanup the Windows Socket Interface" message isn't as bad as it sounds.

BOINC has detected that it's already running and has closed the new instance. But there's a coding error which means the exit routine calls the socket cleanup function without ever having setup the socket interface, and that's generating the error.

Thanks for the pointers and for confirming my suspicion re: that error code, and for being so quick to respond!
