Hello there, i've tried to upgrade the BOINC client to 4.12. Despite the fact it screwed my machine i tried to start it clean and copy the old files over from backup. In that process it dumped the old WU and downloaded a new one, which got screwed also. Now i tried to delete the host and the result but there always states an error message "Host deletion is disabled for now, sorry!". I had to downgrade to 4.09 from backup and all is fine now, except the SETI uploading issue :/ Could an admin please 'free' this WU for another one? Link to WU greetz, Uli |

Hi Uli, you have to install 4.12 over 4.09 so thaat you can keep the wu. In my account I have lots of lost wu's :-).
Greetings from Germnay

Basti
|

> you have to install 4.12 over 4.09 so thaat you can keep the wu. Better make that 4.13 :) There was a CPU scheduling problem with 4.12 which caused much grief and consternation. 4.13 is up on the seti website.
---------------------------- A member of The Knights Who Say Ni! Yet another stats page: http://boinc-kwsn.no-ip.info |

I installed V 4.13 on my 3.2G P IV HT. I was also running LHC on that host. LHC went nuts, going through WU's spitting chunks (errors). I detached from LHC only to find that one of the two CPDN WU's locked up and stopped crunching. Restarting the client did no good. I had to reset the project, only to have the whole computer completely lockup. The only way to unlock it was to do a HARD shutdown. Once rebooted I overwrote V 4.09 to get things back to normal. It would appear that Berkeley did it again. (Smoking crack?) Not being one to mince words; IMHO V 4.13 is a piece of sierra hotel india tango. Download V 4.13 AYOR (at your own risk). Team Site Link"The world is a progressively realized community of interpretation." |

This is why you back up your BOINC directory before upgrading the core client :) But all that aside, this is only the 2nd or 3rd bad experience with 4.13 I have come across. If there were a major problem with it, the berkeley message boards would be flooded with whiners.
---------------------------- A member of The Knights Who Say Ni! Yet another stats page: http://boinc-kwsn.no-ip.info |

Right, but shouldn't have to. Team Site Link"The world is a progressively realized community of interpretation." |
