Hi ppl,

I'm in more than one projecto of boinc, as many of you, and some of the projects lunched a new version. I updated and after that, climateprediction started to get this error:

climateprediction.net - 2004-10-15 10:34:31 - Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)

Why is happening this error?

It will be a problem with your preferences settings. It may have happened because a bug in the handling of preferences for individual machines (home/work/school) has now been fixed, but these may have a different setting to your general preferences.

If you have local preferences set (you may need to scroll down) these will need to satisfy CPDN requirements. You need a minimum of 700 MB disk space (preferably more), and the percentage allocation needs to ensure that there is at least that available to CPDN. You can check in the BOINC disk tab that the settings are right.

Andrew Hingston,

I have this settings:
Use no more than 20 GB
Leave at least 0.1 GB
Use no more than 30% of total space
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

The strange is that I have 4 gb of free space and when I changed boinc's version, started getting that error:

I agree that you should have enough space, but some people do have this message for no reason obvious at the time; it always seems to sort itself out.

Firstly, are you sure that you don't have separate general preferences set for home, work or school machines? If you do, then this is the most likely reason for the problem happening now. If you do but don't need them, then it would be best to delete them altogether.

Secondly, try editing your general preferences (eg, up the proportion of space allocated) because that will give the server a fresh set of information. Although your computer knows it has enough space, the server obviously doesn't. :)

There's more information than you are likely to need on disk preferences on Paul Buck's site but I doubt that you really need that advice as it was working before the BOINC version update.

I am not sure how BOINC handles the process of updating general preferences when you are working multi-project, but you could click on 'update' for CPDN in the projects tab.

Andrew Hingston,

I've installed again 4.09 and now it's working perfectly. It downloaded the files to climate and it's processing the unit. I think it's the lastest version of boinc it's messed up

I think it's your "Use no more than 30% of total space"

I have machines lower on free HDD space than you, but run with "Use no more than 99% of total Space" , "Use no more than 1.0GB" and "leave at least 0.01GB free".

So far that works perfect, and I can fit 3 Projects onto 1GB (SETI and LHC don't take much space anyway); even works on my Dual CPU System that basically runs 2x SETI + LHC amount of WorkUnits besides one CPDN Client :)
