I downloaded the latest source yesterday and compiled with /O2/G7/SSE2 (Athlon64 3000) and I got a decent perf boost over the default build (forgot to write down #\'s), and a 1.4%/11.5% whetstone/drystone performance increase over 4.09 that i downloaded off this site. I was kind of surprised I didn\'t see anyone offering optimized nightly builds on the forums which makes me wonder if there is a reason. Is there any reason I shouldn\'t use an optimized build? |

You are probably talking about optimized core clients? If that is the case it isn't going to give you any performance boost at all since the core client is only taking care of 0.0001% of the work - uploading and downloading etc. The real work is going on in the application (hadsm - the worker, the simulation) and this one isn't opensource and hence cannot be optimized in the same way. So in CPDN optimizing the CC doesn't change anything at all - except the dhry- and whetstone numbers. |
