Hey,

Question for dummies...

As I have a laptop which gets rebooted every day,
the climate prediction is losing precious CPU time
between the last checkpoint and and the moment it
gets shut down.
When it boots up again, it starts all over from that
same checkpoint.

Is there any chance of avoiding this (forcing it to
write the last calculations and resuming where it left off when the PC boots up again) ?

Big thanks !

Cheers,

Kristof.

Sadly, there is no way of creating a different save point. The fixed save point can easily be identified as the program saves at the end of every third model day, and the model year consists of 12 months of 30 days. If the shut down point can be chosen manually, then the optimal point to do so is at 0:30 on the 4th, 7th, 10th etc of each month.

In reality this may simply be impracticable, of course.

If BOINc is closed down manually before reboot, do you still lose the save point?

I think I'll add an option to display time to checkpoint
so you don't have to take out your calculator each time you want to shut
down or reboot.

The checkpoint period can't be modified.

Thanks !
