I have a laptop that is a slow cruncher. It's been running CPDN/Boinc since early August and it is still a week from completing the first model.

I intend to relieve it from duty when the model completes, but from my other machines I know that Boinc will fetch a new experiment, some time before completion of the current.

How do I prevent Boinc from d/l'ing a new WU without messing the whole ting up (Deleting accounts etc.?)

I know I can just detatch when the result is uploaded, but this will trash the model just downloaded.

If possible, How do I avoid this?

It has been suggested that you can change your General Preferences to "Use no more than xx GB" where xx is a very small number, like 0.2. This tells BOINC that you won't have enough room to download a new model.

Now I haven't tried this myself, and don't know how that might affect other running models on different PCs.

Setting the disk space very low does work, and as far as I have discovered to date, is the only way of doing it. Today for example, I set my disk space to zero so that all SETI's I had would finish and not start anything new as I wanted to do an experiment involving an out of date client.
