Hi there, New to CPDN. I was doing some routine maintainance on my maching, and I think I deleted all of the 5Mb summary diagnostic files that had accumulated so far (been running CPDN for about 5 days). Should I be worried about this? thanks, Cameron |

I guess that these are CPDN data result files, in which case that could well be a problem. As well as cumulatively using data to progress the model, some information is returned at the end of the phase and most importantly at the end of the experiment. The regular trickles don't contain any scientific data, just a note of how far you have got. Things may not be that bad, but if you can restore the files then it would be wise to do so. Otherwise, the best course might be to reset the project and get a new model, rather than carry on and find that it failed later on. If you can discover the names of files you did delete (you will probably find them in your trash can), then you can get a definitive answer from the board. |

All of the files were in a directory called "Dataout" and have names such as "3a9laa.da15340". Basically, I was running MS Disk Cleanup and it suggested that it was safe to delete these files. That's the last time I trust Microsoft! I think I can restore them using Norton, though, if they are important. |

Sounds like the CPDN Data. Or does it? 'da' files used to be the restart dumps but these have been renamed for BOINC. If the d was replaced by a p then it would look like the CPDN files. How many files were deleted? Is the model still running? Have any files been replaced with another file of the same name? |

They are all definitely "da" files. It looks like there were at least a couple hundred of them, all 6.67 Mb. There are no new files of that type in the "Dataout" directory, though I do see the "pa" files you mentioned. CPDN seems to be running just fine, making progress, trickling, etc. |

I am inclined to think you can leave them deleted. You shouldn't have a couple of hundred files of 6.67 Mb. Maximum size for a complete run is around 700Mb. For 5 days in, I would expect about a third of that in the dataout directory for a reasonable fast PC, less for a slower PC. |
