This is not related to the previous server downtime.
if you are running other projects under BOINC, then you can only run one application at a time. unless the core client was running Cpu benchmarks when you caught it.
It this still persists, send me your stderr.out and stdout.txt file in the BOIUNC root directory.

Am only running CPDN (on Windows XP)

Yes, having two forums on different platforms (e.g. phpBB vs. BOINC), different servers etc. is a wise choice - which has proven itself lately. Still, i do prefer phpBB with it's functions, comfort and many more. Acutally, i already take BOINC forum as a backup (or BOINC specific thread of CPDN)...
