I formatted my hard drives and reinstalled the OS (WinXP Pro) and all my software etc. on my system the other day. As I was 60% through a CPDN work unit (and I'm determined to finish one even if I do have to tone down the overclocking), I backed up BOINC as described in these forums. All seemed to be fine, but now I've noticed that the projects tab in the BOINC client is blank (I'm sure I would have noticed this when I first installed and checked BOINC). All the other tabs, work unit processing and contacting server seem to be functioning correctly. Both the original client and the unattaced (blank) client were v4.13. I have tried reinsalling the client but to no avail. The only other anomoly I can think of which occourred during the backup process was when I backed up BOINC to DVD and one file couldn't be copied (C:Program Files/BOINC/projects/climateprediction.net/22y4_100118120/dataout/yabsd.error (I think)) but I also backed up to mt iPod and didn't encounter this problem, this was the version I used to reinstall BOINC. As basic function seems to be fine I am happy to leave this as it is but I can't manually connect to projects which is slightly annoying. Please advise. <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php? cpid=0411acb0d4b9dca9977cc388a19acf60"> |

Check the file attributes in your newly replaced directory. Copying from CD/DVD often sets the read only bit. If this is the case BOINC can't open any of the files to do anything since it normally opens for read/write access. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

In the end I didn't copy from my DVD I used my iPod. The folder was set to read only so I changed it but still everything else seems fine. The only other settings I changed were the security options but I've now changed them back. <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php? cpid=0411acb0d4b9dca9977cc388a19acf60"> |

What a FOOL Sorry, I found that all of the column headings had somehow scrunched themselves up to one end. Normal service has resumed. <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php? cpid=0411acb0d4b9dca9977cc388a19acf60"> |
