Now 4.15 is available on E@home. Anyone? |

I feel sure that the E@H message only applies to people who are splitting time between the two projects. Before trying it, back up ENTIRE boinc folder set! The message from the CP server is to use v4.13 Les |

It delays starting apps until after the benchmarks run so the start-stop that seems to be causing problems should be gone. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

From an Einstein forum: The bug that is fixed concerns possible loss of work when starting the benchmark (which happens e.g. when you upgrade the client, but also about once a week). In principle it affects all projects, and every time the benchmark is ran gives a possibility for breaking the current project. It turned out that the CPDN app currently is the one most sensitive for this bug, and because of the very long time the CPDN WUs take, it also does the most damage to this project. But sooner or later every project may be affected. |

Perhaps we need a response from the core team about this. Should EVERYONE upgrade to 4.15? I'm still using 4.05, which is what I was sent when I joined. I haven't had ANY problems with it. (Touch wood!) I'm only running CP, but I run it continuously, even when doing a virus check, adv check, etc, playing a graphics intense game, downloading, backup to another hd, and haven't had any problems. There is a problem when cp runs a benchmark while I am gaming; the games action becomes very jerky, and I keep getting killed. It probably doesn't do the benchmark score much good either. But even this doesn't stop cp. Also 3 power failures didn't cause any problems; the computer just rebooted, and BOINC started again by itself. I get the feeling that most of the problems people have are because of either overclocking, under rated power supply, or BOINC itself when they try running every dc project they can find. My only complaint about BOINC is the 'dial-up' bug, and I don't see that getting fixed. I don't see a necessity to get the latest version of BOINC as soon "as it hits the store". Or the point of credits. But I may be by myself on this. Les |

> Should EVERYONE > upgrade to 4.15? The next major upgrade to BOINC seems to be 4.5x, which has been in development for some time, and which incorporates a number of important improvements (it might have a different name by the time it comes out). We were told that Berkeley hoped to release it in final form this month, though I don't know the latest on that. My feeling is that anyone who is happy with their current version, and who isn't wanting to participate in the E@H testing, might as well wait for that major upgrade. Although upgrading ought to be troublefree, experience suggests it isn't that way for everyone, and the less often one has to do it the better. |

They should be releasing BOINC 4.16 soon, because of the bugs in 4.15. Professor Desty Nova Researching Karma the Hard Way |

BOINC CC v4.16 was released yesterday, but one person on the Einstein @ Home boards already reported a problem with CPDN (he lost his work). - Marco <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/team_display.php?teamid=104">Team Canada</a> <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php?cpid=e3c78d10c4cf326b67e1210e1db0ce55"> |

But someone had problems with it on E@H forum. So be careful and back up your boinc folder before upgrading. Cheers.. Arnaud |

I've upgraded this morning to BOINC 4.16. Hope I don't need the backup I made. Professor Desty Nova Researching Karma the Hard Way |

I ended up waiting until my main box was done with the current WU, backed up, and put on 4.16. No problems so far. 82 hours left on my slow box before it gets upgraded. |
