I subscribed yesterday to BOINC with the hopes of participating in the climate prediction experiment. I am connected through high speed internet 24/7 and have set my preferences to allow BOINC from 5pm to 8am. When I go to the BOINC application there is absolutely nothing under the tabs labeled work, projects, or transfers. Also the BOINC screensaver says there are no applications running. What have I done wrong??? |

Welcome to the project squeaky. It sounds like you haven't connected to the project. Select the "Attach to project" from the "Settings" menu and enter the URL and account code you were sent in your registration confirmation email. If you paste from the message make sure you don't inadvertently include any leading or trailing white space. You have to create an account here: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/create_account_form.php Then you do what Thyme Lawn said :o) Arnaud |

Hi, all If you're a new member and you have a problem try to: Give the configuration of your machine (CPU Speed and memory, OS, etc) Give all the boinc messages in the tab messages (you can Copy and paste them with crtl+mouse) It'll help us to help you !!! Check that you entered correctly the ID key (very long string in the email) by copy/paste (no blanck at the beginning and the end) and check the URL (http://climateprediction.net). there is no / at the end. Check that your Firewall doesn't prevent BOINC from connecting to the internet. Check that you didn't choose the option "disable network access". If nothing happens, try to reset and look at the messages tab to see what BOINC says. If nothing happens again, try to detach and attach again. Then if nothing happens again, try to uninstall and install again BOINC. AFAIK, CPDN servers are up and there is no problem to contact them. The public release is now BOINC 4.19 and you can find it here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php?dev=1 Hope that helps... Arnaud |
