I've tried everything suggested elsewhere in these boards. I've used suspend, exit, suspend then exit from the system tray and from the BOINC menu but still this process keeps going.

When you use suspend from the BOINC File menu you get a message saying "suspending computation and network activity - user request" and it stays there and the processing does not stop

Infact it enters a strange state, when you look at the job status on the work tab, its says Suspended(running)

I guess I can't just kill it

I'm going to get some more bread to make toast with my hot processor

How do I stop this thing before I run out of bread?

Just for interest, doing "file -> exit" on the GUI when the application has been running for just a few minutes works so maybe theres a problem that builds up if the thing is left to run for a day or two?

'Suspended(running)' is a normal state. It indicates that when you resume computation the model will go to the 'Running' state.

If you run up task manager what you'll see will depend on whether your general preferences are set to leave applications in memory on suspension or not. If you leave in memory you'll have 'boinc_gui', 'hadsm3_*' and 'hadsm3um_*' running, but none of them should be using any CPU time. If you remove from memory only 'boinc_gui' should be running.
