Since installing BOINC my model processing speed has decreased considerably. Prior to BOINC I conpleted two runs in approximately 4 months, but after 5 months with BOINC only 10% has been processed. Any hints as to how I can speed the model processing speed with BOINC?

I would have expected your Pentium processor to be slightly quicker than under classic. It is Athlon users who have suffered a slight performance drop.

The most likely cause of the problem is that you are trying to run the graphics. Unfortunately these take a lot of processing power, and that would hamper your ability to process the CPDN model. Updating the drivers for your graphics card might help slighly, but if your graphics card is as old as your processor I doubt it will make much difference.

1. Don't use BOINC (or anything else) as a screensaver [right click in the Windows desktop and select preferences to change it].

2. View the graphics by right clicking on the model name in the work tab, and close when you have finished looking at it.

3. Don't leave BOINC open in the work or disk tabs, as they use processing power in updating.

4. You could see whether your disk drive needs defragmenting - this can make a difference if the disk is fairly full or is badly fragmented.
