Hi all, I just got started with this very worthy looking project. Thing is, straight away I noticed a worrying discrepancy in the early stages of the model which I fear may have chaotic consequences for the future of this particular model. It was seasonably warm in N. Africa on Feb 29th 1811. Obviously my concern is that 1811 wasn't a leap year. what effect would throwing in an extra 24 hrs [48 time steps] have on the accuracy of this model I wonder.

For simplicity, a model year is 360 days long, with 30 days in each of the 12 months. The solar radiation calculations are adjusted such that radiation changes due to tilt of the earth and distance from the sun occur correctly within 360 days.

They actually had this in some FAQ somewhere, but I can't find it right now.

The first 15 years are called the spin-up phase because it is calabrating itself before the real experiment begins in phases 2 and 3. Strange weather is normal during the first phase.

Ah I see... strange weather huh??? that would explain the global ice ages I've been seeing.

Some localized oddities are normal in Phase one, but if your model is turning into Titan in Phase one, you may have some hardware instabilities.
