I know this may be a dumb question but. . .

My PC has been crunching away for seevral days, trickling stuff back and I'm sure this small contribution is worthwhile but how do I get to see the results, in some meaningful way?

How do I know what my machine is calculating?

Have you tried right clicking the climateprediction.net in the work tab?

Yes, and I get "Show Graphics" and it gives me a globe with colour patterns on for Temp, Pressure, Rainfall etc

Are these the results that my PC is creating?

Yes. For more about the visualisation see this thread.

Many thanks, I hadn't realised that the results were for the work my PC is doing, I thought they were for the whole project.

incidentally, every now and then the words "Radiation Period. . ." appear on above the text at the bottom of the graphics.

What does that mean?

>incidentally, every now and then the words "Radiation Period. . ." appear on >above the text at the bottom of the graphics.

Every six timesteps the model does some extra calculations including the radiation calculations. This is why these timesteps take longer to calculate.

What kind of radiation, UV? or radio active

Solar radiation is mainly ultraviolet, visible light and short wavelength infrared. The Earth re-radiating heat is at a longer wavelength so more into the infrared section of the spectum.

I do not know whether the radiation step is doing incoming, outgoing, or both.

I cannot see any reason why the model would be calculating radio-active radiation.
