I thought some of the CP.net participants might be interested in coming along to a Public Meeting on : Forecasting Climate and its Impacts Seasons to Decades Ahead to be held on Tuesday 24th May 2005 3:30 - 6:00 pm at Regent’s College, Regent’s Park, London, UK As part of its 5-year COAPEC research programme the UKs Natural Environment Research Council have looked at how scientific research into climate forecasting can be applied to societal needs. The results will be addressed in a series of talks: • Foundations of Climate Forecasting • Climate and Health • Using Seasonal Forecasts - what have we learnt from COAPEC? • ClimatePrediction.net: User participation in climate forecasting To be followed by an evening reception with buffet. The meeting is open and registration is free to all participants. This public meeting is part of a two day meeting (24th and 25th May 2005) presenting the scientific results of the full COAPEC programme. Participants of the public meeting are welcome to attend the full meeting. For more details of the meeting and online registration, please see www.soc.soton.ac.uk/coapec/FM.php or contact me through the coapec web site. COAPEC was one of the programmes that provided early funding for CP.net and I hope you will find the meeting interesting. Helen |

Oh to be in England, now that seminars are here. With apologies to someone. Although apparently it's NOT spring there yet. Les |

A day (or two) in London sounds an excellent idea. I think the dates even coincide with the schools' summer half-term. I hadn't realised that Southampton Uni was so involved with the whole project. __________________________________________________ |

> But yes I noticed the first crocus a few days ago. At last. What a difference being a couple of hundred miles south of you makes, Marj. My crocuses started flowering in early January and are just about finished. The winter jasmine started blooming in October and is still going strong. And some of my more sheltered cranesbills must be really confused - they've been flowering continuously for nearly a year :-o "The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer |

Yes, I am - just for that public session, not for the whole 2 days. I am hoping that there will be some snacks afterwards. Anyone else? __________________________________________________ |
