I have just started a day ago on CPDN with my P4 2.0GHZ machine and it looks like it will take at least 28 days for the first WU.

Here is what my work comp is at:

CPU Time - 63:33:01

Progress - 8.42%

To Completion - 691:27:08

It's on only 8 hours a day so it's gonna take a while.

well that's why I put the "Report Deadline" at about a year. Better late than never! :-)

And I have 4 machines that will not download a WU because the deadline is too short. They would take 24 months or so if that were all that they did.

yikes, well that explains that the max wu estimate time on the cpu.html page is 244 days! much more and it would hit the just-about-yearly cutoff! at least the 244 day machine is a dual-cpu box though! :-)

Well, to help JM7's machines along, what is the maximum year that the unit will crunch? Add 6 years to it, and his machines might be capable. ;)

Although I do have a question: I hope all of our units don't have to be checked against another machine before we get granted credits, do we? Or this beta will last extremely long. ;)

Where do you see this info? is it from the windows version?
I am running Fedora Core 1. My understanding is the current
boincgui is not compatible with Boinc 4.02 running Linux
Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Thnx

Yes, in Windows the 4.02 client running CPDN behaves just like the 3.x client running Seti@Home or Predictor. It shows this info under the "work" tab.

Don't worry. I think that some WUs may be resent on a sample basis for verification checks, but we will get credit immediately for the work we do.

yes, you'll get immediate credit (well "credit per trickle" which is about a day at most per trickle). And we send some duplicate workunits for validation of results, but we aren't using the SETI "paradigm" of redundant workunits since models will in an ensemble, even given the same initial conditions, will not perform exactly due to the non-linear chaotic nature of climate systems.

My concern is, if it'll take 1000 hours to complete a climate-prediction WU, then how do I get WU's done for SETI@home or Predictor@home? Even with climate's "resource share" set to a few percent, it'll still take many weeks before I can start working SETI/Predictor WU's again.... seems like Climate-Prediction is monopolizing my system....

BOINC now uses preemptive scheduling. This allows BOINC to switch projects every hour, so you can do work for other projects while in the process of completing a CPDN WU.

I am running LHC@Home at 28.57%
And also running Seti@Home at 14.29%

Running Seti slower because they have been having issues and I think that Climate Predictor deserves more attention since it has to deal with the environment, especially in these times when global warming is beginning to be fully accepted and STILL not being taken seriously. So Climate Predictor is getting more attention than any other project right now.

When running CPDN strictly I'm trickling 76 points about every 7.5 hours on my Athlon running at XP2600+ speeds with the work unit I'm running.

This does not seem to work for Climate. It doesn\'t run at all if any other BOINC project has Ready To Run work, which causes me to \"No New Work\" until the Ready To Run queue empties and I then Suspend the other projects so Climate can have at it for awhile.

The original posts are over a year old.
There have been several versions of BOINC since then, and the newest work a bit differently.
Berkeley has a page on scheduling <a href=\"http://boinc.berkeley.edu/sched.php here.</a>
