Hi All, Just want to know if there is some way of controling the CPU's uasge in running 2 BONIC clients. 1st instance of this is 10% complete and 2nd instance is only 1.5% complete after installing 2nd instance last night. My problem is the CPU is throtttling along at 100%, so how do I turn down (preferably) the 2nd instances usage of the CPU Without interfering with the performance of the 1st instance? Many thanks in advance. |

You only need one BOINC. If the preferences setting is to use 2 CPUs, then you should be running two models. If this setting is to use at most 1 CPU ... then it will only use one at 50% ... |

so when i take my A+ class and learn how to make a computer from scratch if i make a tower with say 10 opterons, i can have nine of them running wu's and the last one for me. I could judt use the computer like it was a single processor machine and ignore the other 9. boinc beta, predictor alpha/beta, lhc alpha/beta, cpdn alpha/beta |

However in principal set use at most 9 processors in your preferences and this should do what you want. I don't know if the hard disk might be a bit stretched for input/output so the output may not be as good as 9 seperate opteron machines. |

Don't forget that with HT it isn't a perfect 50 / 50 split in processing power between the two WU's. The second WU will always be slower to process. Just the way how HT is with the P4 processor. > > Hi All, > > > > Just want to know if there is some way of controling the CPU's uasge in > > running 2 BONIC clients. 1st instance of this is 10% complete and 2nd > instance > > is only 1.5% complete after installing 2nd instance last night.
