I get this every time on my fastest PC. It is an AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ 1 gb of ram XP Pro SP2. http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/hosts_user.php?userid=46432 34 errors am I wasting my time and BOINC time? My other slower PC does just fine 2 results 2 success. I think maybe 1 good one one still crunching away. LOL, CRS. I tried running BOINC as a service this last time to no avail. It seems to get to about 60% or so and then blows up. I have tried not using my spyware remover etc.. Anyhow, anyone know how to fix this or trouble shoot it? Over and out, Dale |

Hi Dale If you go to the other boinc cpdn forum (questions and problems) and type 'exit code -5' in the title search box, you will find a lot of the threads you need to look at, because this has unfortunately been a problem for some time. You will also see a few threads you're not interested in about other codes. The -5 code means a calculation error of some sort and it seems to happen more often with Athlons than Pentiums. It is unlikely to have anything to do with running spyware and adware programs. You'll need to go through the system checks suggested. In more than one thread I mentioned my solution of last resort, but I somehow think you'll want a more high-tech solution on your fastest machine. __________________________________________________ |

Ok and thank you. I did the search with the whole string here and it came up with very little help here. Will look over yonder. Dale I did see one where it is video cards. I hope not. |

Hi, Read this, it could help you: <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126">http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126</a> Is your machine a 64 bits machine? I don't know if CPDN/BOINC is really stable and optimized for this kind of machine. You should ask the question on the phpBB forum to be sure. Arnaud |
