Hello everybody,

since some time yesterday i have trouble updating the trickles on my user page. BOINC has no trouble connecting and seems to report the trickles correctly. Unfortunately they are not displayed on my user page and in the BOINC client.

In the last time it took longer and longer until the trickles appeared on the page and the client. But now it's more than a day!

There seems to be some trouble also attaching to the project and downloading new work as over there:

contact problem

2 trickles missing

I'm having trickle problems too, so I'm not sending any more for the moment.
There's some sort of problem with the server, but, as usual, no answers.
And I'm not sure how to determine when/if the server is back up. I'm still thinking about this.
Best I have so far is SAVE a trickle and let it upload. If it makes it, let the others upload. If not,
wait a day or so, and re-send the same trickle.

Hi,
I think the CPDN and Seti & F@H problems are differents:
There is a problem between Cogent and France Telecom (Wanadoo). I just checked before writing this message that CPDN is working with France Telecom but not Seti:

SETI@home - 2005-04-19 19:17:30 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
SETI@home - 2005-04-19 19:17:47 - Temporarily failed upload of 07se04aa.9064.17216.359658.58_3_0
SETI@home - 2005-04-19 19:17:47 - Backing off 1 minutes and 0 seconds on transfer of file 07se04aa.9064.17216.359658.58_3_0
SETI@home - 2005-04-19 19:17:51 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed
SETI@home - 2005-04-19 19:17:51 - No schedulers responded

climateprediction.net - 2005-04-19 19:18:13 - Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
climateprediction.net - 2005-04-19 19:18:16 - Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded

French users have set up proxies to enable Seti and F@H users to send and receive theirs WUs.

Same for me.

Oddly enough, I'm running CPDN both in Linux and Windows on my computer :
-The Linux version connects fine and updates my trickles
-The Windows version keeps saying :

19/04/2005 20:26:17|climateprediction.net|Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
19/04/2005 20:26:19|climateprediction.net|Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi failed
19/04/2005 20:26:19|climateprediction.net|No schedulers responded
19/04/2005 20:26:19|climateprediction.net|Deferring communication with project for 16 minutes and 49 seconds

If anyone has an idea...

Hi there

I have the same problem. No trickles showing for either of my two model runs since 18th April @ 14:02 hrs. Since then, 1 model has uploaded and a new one started, the other has changed from Phase 1 to 2 but nothing showing so I don't know whether the data has uploaded OK or not.

I see there are no comments at all from the Project team either regarding server status etc so I am now back to a Classic model for the time being so as to not potentially waste time/effort on the BOINC runs if the data is not uploading properly.

No uploads here either- I'm HOPING the results are stored - hate to have several G5s chunking away to no good end. :(

Finally got through the LONG thread linked by G Pascal O Cianaigh.
VERY messy problem!

Most is PROBABLY not relevant to our problem. But towards the end, they were hinted at.
An attempt was made to 'ping' from France to CPDN, which failed. So the server, or router, appears to be down.
And the uni's tech people should be trying to fix it. But sometimes it takes a while.

EDIT
And if you look here, you can see that no one is getting credits for trickles.
END EDIT

I think the trickles go to a different server than model data.
For now, I'd suggest not attempting to upload. Better to have the trickles on your hd for a while than
to lose them altogether. Or else back them up before the attempt and look to see if they make it. If not, try re-sending later.

The Bern uni problem took a long time to fix, but we may be lucky.

Well, i see i'm not alone ;)
But nonetheless has anything been done/announced about this issue anywhere?
I don't see any improvement. My models are uploading their trickles without error but on the user page and in the client display nothing is noted :/
I can't stop the client accessing the net cause i participate in multiple projects.
Hope this will be fixed soon...

Same with me, sent several trickles, no recognition on my account page.

Are the trickles lost or just piling up on the servers for some data base process that hangs?
Has anyone of the project team bothered to read the fora up to now?
Let alone deliver any explanations?

I can't find anything useful from them either here or in the other boards. That's not what I call fine behavior, I expect more responsiveness from the team. It would have been OK, if it had been only for the weekend, but a whole workday without any news either in the fora, or on the start page is substandard.

Not only are the user pages not updating but:
Last updated
Classic
20-Apr-2005 21:13:03
Boinc
18-Apr-2005 14:38:43

The XML export has not happened for over 75 hours, eiter.

So something is down, somewhere. The CPDN people must not notice it is down. Maybe someone is on Holiday, and has not realized this is going on?

Hi,
The trickles are probably piled up in the server: this is what happened in CPDN Alpha during 3 weeks and they went back 2 days ago (well, they seem to be stuck again...:o))
Now, you seem to be a little naïve concerning CPDN support: It is several months now, that the help in the fora is done by dedicated users because there is a lack of manpower in the CPDN dev staff.
You'll just have to wait, credits are not so important...

It has also happened to me since two days ago, I should have increased my account of trickles, but there is no movement in the total count.

Let's hope they find out and fix it!

You're right, otherwise I would not join Beta projects without any credits.

I don't expect babysitting by the devs in the fora, but if work is simply vanishing, so obviously futile crunching of my puter has been done, I expect some feedback on the whether and why.

I would feel fine, if someone with 'Volunteer developer', 'Project administrator' or whatever attached to her/his name on the left would say something soothing, like: We know of it, nothing is lost, we're working on it, be patient.
Unless this happens, and only users, how veteran and puter skilled ever, are educated guessing, I have to consider my work as futile. And with the lack of any response, even not appreciated.

If you have a firewall you should block the access to the CPDN servers temporarily

I'm not worried to much because I'm still getting credit on my account even though it's not showing the trickles.
