Hi all - This has probably been asked before - sorry.

Just about to reach my first trickle point and want to protect all crunched data. Exactly what files do I need to back up please. Any help appreciated.

If you are running other projects, this can get a bit complex.

I just run a batch file saying
XCOPY "c:\Program Files\BOINC\*.*" "c:\Backups\cBOINC" /C /M /E /Y

I believe that just copying this back should work. Unfortunately if you are running other projects on that computer they will also go back to the position at backup.

Trying to copy just certain project directories runs into problems because of information in some xml and slots directory is needed. It may be best to copy the whole BOINC directory as indicated and then get more expert help if you need to restore 1 project only.

Hi and Welcome on board
In my experience, the simplest is to back up the whole BOINC directory.
If you just back up the projects or climateprediction directory, you will have problems with the XML files.
So you just suspend and exit BOINC, make a backup of the BOINC directory and restart BOINC again and it should be OK
Searching the <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php">phpbb CPDN forum</a> will give you informations (type backup) in the search engine.

Hi - Thanks for the advice. Backing up the whole BOINC directory definately seems the easiest option. I have read a lot of the forums but sometimes there seems to be conflicting info and trying to sift it all takes a long time due to all the experience and knowledge you all have.

Many thanks.
