All of my projects have ended in a client server error. It completes about a third, and then goes on to another project. Is there anything we cand do about this.

I actually do not know what BOINC version I am running, and I have not discovered an easy way to find out. I have not been taught hardware specific tests. I am using AVG antivirus software and all sorts of spyware program. Do you have any recommendations.

You seem to be running V4.19 for Windows (can be read from your Result's "stderr out" Reports).
You can check it from the BOINC Client Menu "Help &gt; About".

I would recommend to manually set your AntiVirus Software not to scan the BOINC Directory (if the AntiVir Guard is installed and active).

Sorry to get back to you. I am having no luck. I am running BOINC 4.19. I want to keep antivirus protection for BOINC. Sorry, but I do not want to make exceptions. I need to know the following:

1. Could Antivirus software be causing the problem? I don't see how it can since the program is being scanned, not changed.

2. Can climateprediction.net use the results I have sent them. If it cannot, then I do not want to waste my CPU or your time.

1. Yes. See <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2895"> this</a> thread. (Free-AV, for instance).

2. Perhaps for your first model. You haven't progressed far enough with any others to be usefull.

Also, there is a problem with some versions of ATI graphics cards, on some computers. There's a long thread on the SETI site about this. It's apparently an interaction with some versions of BOINC.

Then there are hardware problems, also well talked about here. One of the worst is sometimes just dust, interfering with cooling. It caused a LOT of trouble for at least two people.

I have been running my CPU at 70 degrees Celsius for AMD 64 3500+ at 95% Capacity. I heard it was okay, but I can cut the CPU usage further. I already have a Zalman Fan. I am reluctant to go further with cooling. I guess I also need to talk to AVG about CPDN.

70 Deg C is extremely borderline for an Athlon64 3500+ (Newcastle Core).
If it is a Winchester Core, you are already operating at or beyond the Red line of Thermal Design Limits for that CPU.

Whatever you're doing for cooling there, it is 'not' okay at all.
Whoever told you 70 deg. was okay for any Athlon64, please don't take any cooling advice from that guy anymore for the sake of your CPU.

AVG should be fine with CPDN and BOINC. This is not the problem. The errors you are getting continuously are indicative of a hardware fault...what Les and FalconFly suggested. <a href="http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/computercooling.html">Here</a> is a reasonably good reference on keeping your system cooler. Dropping the CPU temp 5 or more C may result in considerably better stability. As a last resort, <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download_network.php">Threadmaster</a> can limit your CPU usage more and help stability.
