Something weird is going on with my latest host (<a href='http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=174390'>174390</a>)

<pre>
Total Credit 2457.46
Recent average credit 0.00
</pre>

It's generating 3 trickles a day and has got to Phase 2 in one week. No problem there.

Total Credit is increasing. No problem there.

RAC however remains at zero and the total RAC on my account (this is the only active PC) is not changing either.

I'm not overly concerned about it (though my team might like to see their RAC increase) However, it may be a symptom of a larger problem with the project. Might this be related to the fairly recent XML problems?

Similarly, I have seen no changes to the recent credit number for my account for almost one week. The recent average credit has been stuck at 700.46. The total credit and credit per computer have increased at values that are about right.

It's been reported to support personnel <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=3011">here</a>.

There was a problem last year, where, occassionally, some people were given a large amount of extra credit on finishing a model.
This was jokingly called "the extra credits lottery", and others were asking how THEY could get it.
Carl, one of the programmers at the time, did a lot of work to try and track down the problem. Some of this resulted in ALL the credits being thoughly mucked up.
In the end, Carl used a simple, brute force fix: he wrote a program that recalculated all credits, and set it to run every four hours.
But Recent Average Credit was never fixed or corrected, so the RAC figure has been totally useless.

Moving foward in time to the recent sever problems, it appears that the RAC part of some program was never restarted, so that all RAC figures are frozen where they were before "the troubles".
For a new host, this will be 0.

Hope this explains, even if it doesn't help.

Total credits, or better still, the number of trickles sent and received, is a way of tracking progress, and fully completed models are the only real way of keeping score on this project.

Les
