Hi,

I have Boinc 4.45 & hadsm3 4.13 running CP... I also have Seti running as well... Whenever Boinc pre-empts CP after it has started running so that it can run Seti, the CPU time continues to increase for CP while no work is being done... Of course, this causes the completion time to grow to the point that Bonic\'s scheduler believes the computer is overcommitted and goes into short deadline first mode...

The CPU time for CP does not advance if Seti starts first... Only after running & then being pre-empted does this occur...

I use Win98 if that makes a difference...

Thanks,
Lightning

Win98 does make a difference. It stopped being "supported" earlier this year, after, I think, a change in compilers.
Reading between the lines of various posts, it seems it only ever worked because of clever use of compiler options, which are no longer available.

Quite a few people are still using it, but there is no indication that they are completing models.
You can get Win98 to work, but using Classic cpdn.
There is a post by crandles near the top of <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=2841"> this</a> thread about Win98 failures.

Also, BOINC 4.45 causes the problems you report for other people, whatever their os.

There is a thread <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=2855"> here</a> about 4.45 and a work-around if you want to keep trying.
