I had difficulties before when my version 4.45 started its first work unit with hadsm4.13, so I finally ended up reinstalling BOINC 4.19. Now, it works like a charm. I just did a work unit, and it was about 1.76 seconds per time step, which was great. That\'s about 5.3 hours per trickle, which, at 94.5 points per trickle, got me 17.83 credits per hour. It was done in just under 16 days. It then downloaded a sulphur work unit and started in on that. I thought they added 1 extra 15-year cycle, so they should be 1/3 longer, or about 21 days. Well, after 7.5 hours, it\'s only 0.65% done, moving at 3.21 seconds per time step. It says it has five sets of 15 years instead of the previous 3 (?). So the work unit is going to take almost 10 hours per trickle and 48 days total?! That\'s three *times* as long, not 1 1/3 times as long, and the trickles take almost twice as long. So, am I going to get the same 94.5 points credit for twice as much computation, or does the sulphur cycle grant more credit? I\'m all about the science, but if it isn\'t doing more science--but is just taking longer--I see no reason to do a sulphur unit instead of a faster, older unit. If it *is* doing more crunching, it should grant more credit, right? Anyone know? |

See what I get for being impatient? :-) Thanks for the quick reply. Michael |
