Hi -- After a hard restart of the computer (power outage) BOINC showed status Running but my Windows Task Manager showed 0% cpu time. I could not correct this so I unattached from the project and then reattached. I had hoped/assumed it would continue with my two workunits but it appears the two workunits I had were wiped out from my computer and are now lost. BOINC has downloaded a new workunit and is working on that. I was wondering what happens to those work units I lost? Is the partial work done on them still useful to ClimatePrediciton.net or are the lost (and sometime in the future resent to do-over to another computer)? I\'m not concerned about the credit only just hoping Climateprediction still can use the hundreds of cpu hours that went into those units. Thank you! |

Unattaching starts over with a clean slate. Regarded as a last ditch attempt to get BOINC to restart. After about 6 weeks of not hearing from a model, (via trickles), the server will mark the data set for re-assignment. You need to have completed at least one phase, and uploaded the trickles, to have any useful info from a model, and even then it\'s mostly for research students to go through to look for possible failure patterns. Some people have crashed very near the end of a model. It\'s a tough project because of what it is trying to achieve. (See the Science info in the menu to the left.) |
