I\'ve had 3 WUs, the first crashed with the message: <file_xfer_error> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message> </file_xfer_error> <file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_48o9_000298137_0_2.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message> </file_xfer_error> <file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_48o9_000298137_0_3.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message> </file_xfer_error> <file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_48o9_000298137_0_4.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message> </file_xfer_error> <file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_48o9_000298137_0_5.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message> </file_xfer_error> and the last 2 with the message: - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) I turned on \'keep in memory\' between the last 2, obviously to no effect. Have turned on \'no new work\' for the time being. Running BOINC 5.2.2, AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 1 GB RAM, Win XP HE SP2(05.01.2600.00). |

Robert, how about Antivirus software? Any overclocking? How this machine differs from your other two AMD XP boxes - I mean in SW and apps running? <i>phpBB forum for CPDN, all are </i><a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board">invited</a> |

Robert, Running McAfee VirusScan 9.1. There are a number of other apps running - DigiGuide, PIMEX, BoincLogX, Boincview, Palm Desktop Alarm, Palm HotSync, Bluetooth & HP Digital Imaging Monitor. The last 4 are the only ones that aren\'t running on the other machine. I suppose I should try another WU with those disabled to see if that makes a difference. |

Robert, Sorry... and no overclocking. |

the \"819\" crashes can also be device drivers. if you are running the screen saver, you can also try turning that off ... |

I should have said... no screen savers running. Does it crash after the model has started running or immediately after the download. If it\'s the latter I\'ve found that rebooting in \"safe with networking\" mode and downloading the model from there will work. Ian |

I should have said... no screen savers running. Just found 2 other threads that report the same problem. Unfortunately, with no solution. http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=2975 http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=3119 Just tried suspending all the other projects and downloading another WU... it crashed within a minute with the same error: 30/10/2005 10:07:41|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result 185v_300077829_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)) Looks as if I will have to stop running CP on this machine. |

Just found 2 other threads that report the same problem. Unfortunately, with no solution. Have you tried extensive memory and processor testing (MEMTEST98, PRIME95, etc.)? I am wondering if something works fine with the smaller WUs of the other projects, but when it gets to the huge WU of Climate, it is hitting a bad memory spot, or something simular. It\'s just a possibility. I know you state it\'s a new machine. New machines fail quicker than ones that are burned in for a while. I hope you find the problem and can get back to crunching on this machine. |

A number of us have found that this error occurs with some CPDN applications and not others on the same PC, so in these instances it is unlikely to be a hardware error as such. On the other hand, experience suggests it is machine specific. My guess therefore would be that it is caused by something like a conflict with the graphics driver (experience with the spinup testing pointed that way) but may well have more than one triggering factor. |

Will try Memtest etc this weekend. Tried running Memtest over night. Unfortunately, when I turned the monitor on this morning the Memtest screen came up but the damn machine went & rebooted before I could see the scores (it had done 4 passes with no errors when I went to bed). |

Memtest run - no errors. Prime95 run - no errors. Upgraded to latest NVidia drivers. CP still crashing. Giving up on this machine. |

I would try to exclude BOINC folder from AV scanning... <i>phpBB forum for CPDN, all are </i><a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board">invited</a> |
