I am working with several BOINC projects. CPDN is 50% of the total BOINC time, and only 1 CPDN wunit in queue. I have a P4 3Ghz with HT. At the beginning I was working with 1 CPU max. Several days ago, I changed to 2 cpus max trying to have CPDN wunit working all the time and to reduce time to finish work (about 1400 hours, a lot of time I think) After that, I have seen that to finish work became to increase (to almost 1600 hours), two CPDN threads appeared on Windows task administration window (one not working usually), and the WORST was that work unit ended with error several hours later . Next CPDN work unit also ended with errors. So I have decided to stop CPDN work, because I\'ve no problems with other projects, until I can have a solution for that may anybody help? |

Did you have the preference to leave WUs in memory on? Not sure if that will help but if you had it turned off then I would defiantly turn it on as CPDN needs it..... BOINC Wiki |

HT mode will increase the speed of processing WUs, about 20%, but you do 2 in the same that increased time, almost doubling your performance. Changing the machine in mid-CPDN has been bad before. Going from non-HT to HT could have caused a problem. My two HT machines are running multiple CPDN threads without issue, because I set them up that way. The single processor HT is currently doing 2 Sulpher units at the same time, the Dual processor HT is doing 1 HADSM and 2 Sulpher units simutaneously, and all doing just fine. So it is possible. Keep the machine clean, and cool! |
