Anyone done this. Just had to install XP as well as XP64 because of some compatibility issues. Now I need to get CP running on the XP partition. The XP64 was running 32 bit Boinc. Think I know how to transfer the WUs across without loss but is it possible to put the data somewhere centrally and have both OS\'s accessing it however the machine is booted. |

Hi there, BOINC does not allow having a separate folder/partition for data; all goes in one folder and it\'s subfolders. Even when you edit appropriate .xml files etc, new WU will go to the default folder. I suggest to simply put BOINC folder to a place where both OSes have access. phpBB forum for CPDN, all are invited |

Interesting problem; don\'t think we\'ve encountered it before. (For me, at least, Dual boot has always meant Win/Linux.) Because of Registry entries, it seems a re-install of boinc would be required to get it running in the second OS. Any M$/boinc experts know whether entries from one OS\' Registry would be required for the other OS? (In other words, I don\'t know if there is any dynamic updating of the Registry by boinc or CPDN.) Best of luck. Edit: Sent a message to Rom Walton asking advice. Edit2: Rom replied by email: Should be any problem... BOINC should find and execute everything okay without any registry changes. BOINC Manager will reset its preferences, but that is about all. ----- Rom "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

Top replys, thanks for checking it out with Rom. I\'ll wait for a couple of 90% sulphurs to complete and give it a go. It occurs to me that the computer name will have to be identical in both partitions to avoid a new BOINC ID and any validation issues. |
