As the title suggests really....

Ive run BOINC for 24hrs28mins and only at 0.25% so far.

I have a 1Ghz Athlon with 512MB Ram.
screensaver goes to blank and BOIC runs always. I have a n old Geforce3 graphics card and the screen res is 1280x1024....

Any thoughts?

running 24x7 at 8.42 s/TS you get

8.42 s/TS x 259248 TS/phase x 5 phases / 3600 TS/hr / 24 hrs/day = 126 days

A lot of people have taken longer. Is the PC running any other BOINC projects? I\'m just trying to figure out why only .25% in one day.

8.42 s/TS ...

Not bad, I\'m doing 8.17 s/TS (but, 0.75%/day) with my Intel 1.6 GHz processor ;-) If you want to finish on time (not critical for this project - you will get your goodies anyway), consider to run only CPDN on this computer.

Happy crunching !!!

Hi,

I have CPDN on this computer but it is suspended. Would aborting it make any difference?

Cheers.

You\'re running both the BBC and the CPDNs models? Should be OK just leaving it at suspended.

Have a look in \'task manager\' to see if there is anything unexpected taking up CPU time or memory (on most systems the model should be getting at least 95% of the CPU).

yep, its about 95%...
ARGH!

Maybe I should just admit that 5year old computers just cant cut it any more.

Harry,

If I were you, I\'d detach from the BBC. That is a long project and more compute intensive than regular cpdn which you may have more luck with.

I would be more than happy to get a s/Ts of 8.42 on a single 1Gig.
My dual 1 Gig (intel PIII slot1) is runing 10+ s/Ts RealTime on CM an around 13 for sulphur.

Is Harry running Sulphur or BBC CM?

If you think you are going to upgrade computer sometime soon anyway, I don\'t see any harm in continuing. The model should be transferrable to the new computer.

You have one year to complete the unit in, and someone calculated it to taking 128 days... You\'re well within deadline so I wouldn\'t worry about it... True, I saw much lower crunch times (I say saw, because after several sulfer units failed I\'m of the conclusion that sulfer 4.22 hates my A64 and will wait for 4.23)...

In my case, and if you could double the RAM to 1 GB you might try the CPDN seasonal attribution project, which is running much more successfully on my A64 and also has an estimated 28 day runtime. But from what some have indicated there\'s a reason it\'s recommended to have 1 GB of RAM, as some who have less have claimed their swapfile gets thrashed... Can\'t comment as I do have a GB so...

However, it\'s only when you can\'t complete in a year you should be concerned... Your comp can complete this with 24/7 operation and still have > 6 months time to spare in actual run time...

Actually this project doesn\'t care much about the deadlines. They just have to be there for BOINC. If you do not mind doing CPDN only for an extended period just let it run.
