bbc application signup

went to download the new bbc app via http://bbc.cpdn.org/. However, it will not recognize my email/password. I have >40K of cpdn credit, so I am not sure why my login does not work. any ideas? I am running boinc 5.13. website says i do not need to download new client but to attache to http://bbc.cpdn.org/. any ideas? |

The BBC project is treated as a different project, i.e. the credits you earn there are not likely transferable to here (I imagine Carl could come up with some wizardry, but I wouldn\'t count on it). So, you\'ll have to create a new account over there. |

Ok, I just signed up, attracted by the BBC publicity, but now I don\'t know what I signed up for. I followed the BBC links from the SETI site, and I\'m crunching on something, but not sure what it is. I see the CPDN Application sidebar list three applications (sulphur, slab, spinup), but I intended to participate in the BBC experiment. I am apparently running the sulphur cycle model, but I don\'t know why. So how do I know if I am running the BBC application? Do I get to choose the application? I also notice that boinc is reporting results here even though it is less than 1% complete, and I have a deadline of February 2007 for the workunit. my first thought was that this was generous, but at this pace, I\'m worried it will not completed. plus I will probably be replacing and disposing of this laptop before the workunit is done. Reading some of the postings, I have gleaned that this is apparently normal for CPDN. Sorry if I am asking questions about material that has already been covered or is documented elsewhere, but of the BOINC projects I am running (SETI,EINSTEIN,LHC), this is the least intuitive to find information and understand what is going on. There is plenty of interesting information on the site, but I just can\'t seem to find the information that answers my questions. - Skeptic - "No one is out there."

The BBC project is the TCM (Transient Coupled model), that was called a Coupled Ocean model a few years ago when the Oxford project began. See the Climate Science link in the blue menu to the left. It heralds the start of \'Experiment 2\', also mentioned in the Climate Science pages. \'Soon\' this site will have it\'s version of the TCM, but for now, if you want to run it, attach to the BBC site, the same as you would any other project. Use this url: http://bbc.cpdn.org/ At the moment, slab models are finished, (experiment 1), sulphur models are being run as an enhanced version of slab, and the spinup models are alpha/beta testing for the TCM, and will soon finish. > Do I get to choose the application? I guess I\'ll just keep crunching this sulfur model for a while to assess whether my machine is up to the task, and wait for the TCM app to be accessed from here. - Skeptic - "No one is out there."
