You need to adjust your global preferences regarding disk space. One of the three is limiting you to about 400mb of space available for BOINC.

And you need to go to the Projects tab in BOINC afterwards, and click update, to let BOINC know that it needs to check for changes.

Nevermind... I solved it uninstalling in drive C: and re-installing instead in drive D: . Works fine!

Welcome to the project and to the forum.

You now have 196 different models but your computer only needs 1 or 2. Stop clicking the Reset and Suspend buttons in the boinc manager. It is possible to go to the folder in C\\program files\\boinc\\projects\\cpdn to delete the 194 or 195 models that do not show in the Tasks tab of the boinc manager. You would need to look at the model number(s) in the boinc manager and delete all the other models.

But as you have just joined the project in the last day or two, I think it would be much easier for you to uninstall boinc, then install it again. You would then only have 1 or 2 models.

It should be impossible to get more than 4 models a day, but Carl has been working on the data base, and something may have gone wrong.

So the first thing to do, is see if you DO have a lot of models in the Tasks tab.
If not, them they haven\'t actually been sent, and two parts of the server software are working at cross purposes.

The way to stop getting new models is to go to the Projects tab and click the No new tasks button, which will toggle the button label to: Get new tasks, stop more downloads, and set the Status to: Won\'t get new tasks.

As for \"not enough disk space\", Windows and BOINC aren\'t on speaking terms, (not since that ugly incident with the power stapler a few years ago ), so you have to set the amount of space yourself in the General preferences section of your account. 3Gigs should be more than enough.

I\'m also getting this problem, having recently reinstalled BOINC on my pc. After attaching to the project, initially BOINC reports that there\'s no work available, then it started claiming that I only had 40G available, which wasn\'t enough space, so didn\'t download any work. So far it hasn\'t retrieved any data to work with.

Any ideas?

Done, and selected No New Tasks. The problem is that there actually aren\'t any models downloadded to my machine.

I have been told in another thread that I should continue to post here.
I have been with CPDN for some time, left for a while and am now back and eager
to crunch. But i can\'t get any work units, as my BOINC manager tells me that there is not enough space on my harddisk. Furthermore, my computer is said to have downloaded 32 work units, but none appeared in the work tab ever. So i reset the project and got the following afterwards:

Same for me. I am obviously reported to have downloaded 250 or so different models and they show up on \"my results\" too but none of them ever reached me. My project folder is empty except for the config files and science app and BOINC is so bored it\'s crunching Einstein all the time ;-) not a single CPDN model in sight. I don\'t get any error messages apart from \"no work from project\" and I\'ve never, ever, detached, reset, updated or whatever by using the buttons. I\'ve set BOINC to \"no new tasks\" for the time being so I don\'t make any more models disappear but I hope someone has a more constructive solution for me.
To my technical details: This is a Win XP box, SP 2... hardware shouldn\'t really play a role except internet connection... so, I\'m going online via LAN, meaning a few meters of CAT 5e cable, a switch, a cheap DSL modem/router sponsored by AOL Germany and a 2 MBIT ADSL connection.
As for software, I\'m using avast! antivirus and the free version of Sygate Personal firewall (not my favorite but avast doesn\'t want to play with my first and second option) and none of this has ever caused any problems with other BOINC projects.

It would be best if everyone with this problem clicks the No New Work button in the Projects tab once only.

Before you decide whether to

*clean out the boinc folder by deleting unwanted models, or

*uninstall boinc and reinstall it (which may be the best solution for new members)

could I suggest that you should

*right-click on the round boinc icon in the system-tray, bottom right of screen, and select Suspend network access. This will prevent contact with the server.

*please not click the Reset and Suspend buttons in the boinc manager

*Wait until tomorrow and look at this thread again for more news and advice

Okay, good to know. Thanks for keeping us informed. My comp is not idle so joining a day later is no big deal for me ;-) As I don\'t really have any unwanted models to delete, they, as I said, never reached me, I will simply leave everything alone for the time being and check again tomorrow or later today.
