I have sent up trickles over the past few days, but all my projects on the web site show that the last trickle received was the 13-14-Jun. Are trickles sitting in limbo somewhere, and not getting posted to their correct job, and credit not being given? |

It\'ll get sorted out sooner or later, but may be a while. The trickles are uploaded, just not processed yet. RAC will go through the roof when it all goes through! I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |

I think that Tolu said somewhere that there was a trickle server problem, and the backlog had built up a bit. It\'s supposed to be running now. |

Right -- the numbers are pretty much frozen for close to a week now. Not that big a deal, I have multiple projects, and simply suspending Climate is what I\'ve done so as to not have a large building backlog of work awaiting assimilation by the Borg trickle monster. |

could someone, anyone give us a update................... and maybe a timeframe when issues will be resolved. Thank You If we (thouse of use who are donating our computer system time, and bandwith are to so very limited extend co investigators we are being treated like CRAP. The lack of communications speasks volumes about the professionalism of the group of individuals who are running this program amd my support of this particular program is being tested to point where my particpation is now being questioned. I can understand when things do not work and that it takes time to determine the problem, determine a solution, and finally fix the problem, but the KEY is that one must keep the other team members informed. An maybe you are keeping the other team members informrd and we (those of use who are donating our computer system time) are not team members SO WHAT IS THE STORY |

Sent a PM to Tolu on the other Forum. I\'m reminded of the old saw that, when one is up to one\'s neck in alligators, it\'s difficult to remember that one is supposed to drain the swamp. Meanwhile, the watchword is patience. There is no budget for a Communications officer for the Project and Tolu is, for now, minding the store alone. Perhaps we could cut him some slack? I understand the patience thing, I joined SETI classic over 5 years ago and started the BOINC project stuff back in 2004. The thing regarding communication is a conundrum, but a simple \'flash\' bulletin on the home page to the effect of: We are aware of a problem with xxxx, and are looking into solutions. At least that would get some of slack needed by providing the impression that information exchange is part of the human condition. Uncertainty always adds to anxiety and, in an informational vacuum, a pretty standard reaction is to turn up the heat (heat manifesting as increased angst in the message boards). Climate has been quiet in terms of problems at least until April of this year. As problems start becoming a more frequent visitor, communication to the masses becomes more important. Over in SETI land this has been something that has generated lots of discussion (and angst) as they encountered problems over the years. But there is a much larger population over there and they are VERY vocal. The thing is, until this Spring, SETI was very much on the leading edge of encountering problems, with the extra funding they got during a fund raising effort to the SETI/BOINC community, they have made some significant strides, both in terms of actual stability, and in terms of communications. However, the unreliability/communications virus has seemingly been transferred -- to both Einstein and Climate over the past few months. As for me, if I observe an unresolved problem for more than a couple of days with no notice provided, I first revise my resource shares, then suspend the non-functioning project. If things get really sad, I detach workstations. I\'ve only needed to do that a few times. These days I run five projects spread out in my population, Einstein has gotten the largest share over time but with the problems over the past months, it currently is down to number 2 over the past couple of weeks. SETI has gotten the second largest share overall, but is my current number 3. Climate has the third largest cumulative credit, but is now number 5. Climate BBC has the fifth largest cumulative credit and is fourth over the past few weeks. World Community Grid has become the new darling for me, having risen to fourth overall and first over the past few weeks. Total credits Einstein 1.2M SETI 775K Climate 346K WorldGrid 86K ClimateBBC 27K Previous Week Credit WorldGrid 14.3K Einstein 13.5K SETI 9.1K ClimateBBC 2.3K Climate 0.9K

Interestingly, I\'ve just noticed that the BOINC stats on the front page hasn\'t been updated since the 11th. |

I look in to this asap. Thanks Tolu, much appreciated. Can I have bonus points now, say your 269,440 credits? 8-D No, oh well. ;-) Click here to join the #1 Aussie Alliance on Climate Prediction |

Hi, The last Credit I received was 13th June, from looking at the graph/Statistics page in my BOINC Manager. I have now suspended CPDN until further notice to try to help alleviate the situation. Maybe if everyone could suspend it for 24 or 48 hours, that would be a massive help to the project, so that the server can cope with the backlog. One step backwards....two steps forwards!! Neil. |
