Should I be concerned that my dual-core Intel (at over 3GHz) suspends work fetch because it becomes overcommitted - in the middle of the night?

Not a problem. It\'s boinc doing its thing to protect the work already on your machine. Given boinc\'s estimated time to completion, it thinks the machine might not be able to get existing work done by the deadline if more is downloaded. New work will be allowed when boinc is convinced all is well with existing work. Nothing to worry about.
