I got my WU on 6th June and I\'m almost 5% through (almost December 1928).

After numerous failed attempts I\'ve managed to stabilise a WU and actually get some decent crunching done and keeping backups too. Only had to restore once.

I\'m not crunching as fast as I should because my PC gets quite hot........especially if I\'m crunching and working at the same time (and during hot spells of weather).

I\'m mostly crunching at night.

MikeMarsUK has just completed a model here, and 3 others have recently completed models on the BBC project.

But still a long way to go for the project as a whole.

After my first hadcm errored out at abt 47%..I am well into the second one and another is running as well (14.2% on one and 2.44 on another).

Is it possible I just got a bad unit? I know stuff like this has happened before....

It\'s possible. However, we see few that we can categorically dump into that bucket. Typically, something about the participant\'s machine/software/procedures/environment triggers failures.

Database under reconstruction, so we can\'t look into your runs for clues/reasons now.

The usual sign of an unstable workunit is that it starts looping (repeatedly rerunning the same year). This is an error, it should be automatically aborting, but it doesn\'t sound like it\'s the problem here.

The crashed work units seem to have an error code of -161, this is difficult to diagnose because it simply means \'a crash occurred, and as a reuslt there are no files to upload\'. Take a look at the topmost thread in this forum for ideas on what may have caused the crashes.

Error -161:

Sometimes work units are hard to get started on a particular PC, and it takes several goes to get one running. Rebooting the PC in \'safe mode\' until the first trickle occurs sometimes helps, and also not displaying the graphics.
