I have been getting this message for a couple of weeks now, but it doesn\'t seem to me to be right when I look at my preferences. These are as follows:

Processor usage
Do work while computer is running on batteries?

I have looked for something on the forum that might suggest a solution, but nothing seems to fit my problem. Does anyone have an answer? If so, I\'ld be glad of your help as I don\'t want my PC not to be helping with the project. Cheers.

Most likely it\'s to do with your large number of failed models. Each of the folders for these models will be taking up a small amount of space in the BOINC folder.

Also, the possible reason for \'instant failure\', is that you\'re still using a 4.* version of BOINC. The latest models require a 5.* version.
(If it\'s version 4.19, then it MUST be un-installed before upgrading.)

I am running version 5.2.13, and this is the only one I have used, being a fairly recent starter.

How can you tell that I have a large number of failed models - or is this because you are a moderator and have access to stuff centrally?

And more importantly, how do I identify them on my computer and how do I get rid of them? Also, is there a way of preventing it from happening in the future?

What is meant by \"instant failure\"?

Anyone can see (some) of your account page, including the details of your computer, and the models you\'ve run. Or at least, been sent. This is used for trouble shooting by helpers such as myself.

This is the relevant page in your case. You\'ll need to click on each model\'s Work ID to find the name.
But you\'ll also see each as the name of a folder on your computer. Just delete those that do NOT appear in the Work (Tasks) tab of the manager.

Instant: Sorry, I looked at the credits column, which is mostly zeros. I should have looked at the cpu time.
But most models don\'t last long before crashing.

You can find all of these pages in several ways. The one I\'ve used is to click on your name to the left of here, then on Computers. From here, you can go to the Computer ID on the left, or straight to the number under Results on the right.

Clicking on the Result ID for any model will give you a page about the model\'s parameters. If you edit the browser\'s search string at the top of your browser window, you\'ll get another page which contains info about the reason for the failure.

This is the right hand end of the string for the first model:

Just to say that having slept on this I think I get the idea(!)

I have deleted the old stuff (hopefully the right ones) and it now seems to be downmloading something.
